Live the Good Life: Easy Ways to Live Healthy and Happy

Active AgingLive the Good Life: Easy Ways to Live Healthy and Happy

Sandra Harvis – Life can get chaotic. With work, social obligations and the grind, it’s easy to lose sight of what really counts — your health and your happiness. The great news is that being healthier, happier, and more fulfilled doesn’t have to mean radical changes. Even small tweaks can go a long way. Therefore, ere are some pointers on how to make this good life yours and start feeling better — inside and out.

Start with Small Habits

You may have heard the advice to “start small,” and there’s a good reason for it. Lofty goals are awesome, but they can be daunting. If you’re looking to eat healthier, begin with one more serving of a vegetable or replacing soda with water. If you’re aiming to exercise, try a ten-minute walk after lunch instead of working out for an hour at the gym every day immediately. Small actions create significant change, and the coolest part is you won’t even feel the strain.

Prioritize Sleep

In a society that often praises productivity, sleep can fall by the wayside. But when you don’t get enough rest, your mood, energy and productivity can suffer. Prioritize sleep with a set bedtime and a one-hour wind down. It is screen-free and stress-free, creating a soothing environment in which your body knows it can start to unwind.” Sleep is the cornerstone of health, and it is worth every minute you invest in it.

Find Time for What You Love

It may be simple to fall into a pattern of work, errands and obligations. But how about the things that make you feel alive? Whether it be painting, reading, or hiking, be sure to to carve time out for things that you love to do. When you’re passionate about what you do, everything changes. And engaging in things that give you pleasure reduces stress and enhances overall happiness.

Connect with Others

Now more than ever, we need human connection. Whether it’s meeting up with a friend for coffee or signing up for a club that interests you, be sure to make time to nurture your relationships. Being with people you love not only cheers you up, but it can also help to support you when things get difficult.

Be Present

We’ve all done it — multitasking or thinking ahead, not staying in the moment. But real happiness belongs to the present. Eating a meal, walking outside, chatting with a friend, make an effort to be present. One of the simplest things you can do to improve your mood and feel peaceful in the daily routine is mindfulness.

Living the good life doesn’t mean doing it perfectly, just consistently. Adopt these little changes, and you will start blossoming your health and happiness.
