Editorial Policy

Last updated: June 2026

This Editorial Policy sets out the journalistic standards and principles governing the production and publication of content by Harbinger Tribune. These standards apply to all staff journalists, contributing writers, and any person producing content on behalf of Harbinger Tribune.

1. Editorial Independence

Harbinger Tribune operates with full editorial independence. Editorial decisions — including the selection, prioritisation, and framing of stories — are made solely by the editorial team under the responsibility of the editor-in-chief. No editorial decision shall be influenced by advertisers, commercial partners, funders, governments, political parties, interest groups, or any other external party. A strict separation is maintained between editorial content and any commercial or sponsored content.

2. Accuracy and Verification

All information published by Harbinger Tribune is subjected to rigorous editorial verification before publication. We strive to ensure that:

  • All factual claims are supported by at least two independent, verifiable sources, official documents, or expert opinions
  • Statistics and data are sourced from credible, identifiable institutions
  • Eyewitness accounts and user-generated content are independently corroborated where possible
  • Speculation and unverified claims are clearly labelled as such

3. Source Transparency

Sources are identified and credited wherever possible. Anonymous sources are used only where there is a genuine and overriding public interest in publishing the information and the source requires protection. Decisions to use anonymous sources are documented internally. The identity of anonymous sources is known to the editor-in-chief.

4. Separation of News and Opinion

Harbinger Tribune maintains a clear distinction between news reporting and opinion, commentary, or analysis. Opinion and analysis pieces are clearly labelled and represent the views of the named author, not necessarily the editorial team as a whole. Editorials representing the institutional position of Harbinger Tribune are clearly identified as such.

5. Corrections and Updates

We are committed to correcting errors promptly, fully, and transparently. Corrections are appended to the original article with a correction notice indicating the nature of the error and the date of correction. Significant post-publication changes to content are treated as corrections and disclosed accordingly. We do not silently alter articles after publication without disclosure.

6. Right of Reply

Individuals or organisations who are the subject of critical reporting are given a reasonable opportunity to respond before publication. Their response is included in the article or published separately where appropriate.

7. Privacy and Personal Rights

Reporting is conducted with due regard for the privacy and personal rights of individuals. Private information about individuals is published only where there is a clear and overriding public interest. Particular care is exercised in reporting on victims of crime, minors, and private individuals who have not voluntarily entered public life.

8. Conflicts of Interest

Journalists and contributors must not report on subjects in which they have a direct personal, financial, or professional conflict of interest. Any potential conflict of interest must be disclosed immediately to the editor-in-chief. The editor-in-chief has final authority over decisions regarding publication in such cases.

9. Protection of Journalistic Sources

The protection of journalistic sources is a fundamental principle of Harbinger Tribune. Information that could lead to the identification of a confidential source will not be disclosed to any third party, including authorities, to the extent permitted by law.

10. Use of Artificial Intelligence

Where AI tools are used to assist in the research, drafting, or editing of articles, the final content is reviewed, verified, and approved by a human journalist. AI-generated content is not published without human editorial oversight and verification. We do not use AI tools to fabricate quotes, sources, or events.

11. Complaints and Feedback

Readers who wish to submit complaints, corrections, or feedback regarding our editorial content should contact us at: support@harbingerpressmedia.com. We aim to respond within five business days.
