A citywide prize hunt embedded inside a feature film is now underway in Los Angeles, with a $25,000 reward awaiting whoever can crack the mystery at its centre. "What's In The Silver Case?" is a live competition that begins inside "The Man With the Silver Case," a black-and-white neo-noir thriller written and directed by Colin Best, and then moves off the screen and into the city itself.

The entry mechanism is unusual: the first clue is hidden within the film, meaning participants must watch it before they can register. The film is streaming on Prime Video and available free on Kapang. Players who solve the opening clue register at lookagain.la, after which later stages require in-person participation in Los Angeles. Clues on earlier stages may be discussed collectively, but each player must complete every step personally.

Up to 50 finalists will earn a place in a three-day finale running October 28 to 30, 2026, with the winner expected to be announced on October 30 following verification. The contest period runs from October 6, 2026 through October 30, 2026, and is open to US residents aged 18 or older. No purchase is required to enter or win.

The film at the campaign's core follows a nameless Man in Gray — played by Stuart Reid — who is hired to deliver a mysterious silver case for a shadowy organisation. Handcuffed to the case and hunted by people willing to kill for it, he takes refuge in a safe house, drawing an unprepared family into the danger he carries. Best shot the film in 19 days on a single camera during what the production describes as the coldest Swiss winter in 20 years, with the lead performing his own stunts. The film co-stars Lara Marian and Tom Ohmer and was released by Freestyle Digital Media.

David Soltani, Managing Partner of DSo Consulting and one of the strategists leading the campaign, said the goal was to take the film's curiosity and FOMO "beyond the screen, turn Los Angeles into an extension of the story, and create something people would want to talk about, share and actually be part of." The campaign is sponsored by MWSC, LLC and administered by Promosis, Inc.

"The Man With the Silver Case" is Colin Best's feature directorial debut. Best is also a musician and hotelier; in 2016 he produced "The Black Jacket," a vérité documentary about a former Black Panther working to change the violent mindsets of influential gang members in South Central Los Angeles.
